Quando visiti il Castello di Wartburg dovresti sicuramente cercare la famosa macchia del Diavolo. È una macchia d'inchiostro sulla parete. Si dice che Lutero avesse lanciato il suo calamaio contro il Diavolo perché il Diavolo lo ostacolava nel suo lavoro di traduzione.
La macchia sta svanendo a causa delle tante dita che la sfregano. Lutero si nascondeva qui nel XVI secolo e tradusse qui il Nuovo Testamento.
