Il canale Bijlands è una parte di circa cinque chilometri del Reno tra i villaggi olandesi di Tolkamer e Millingen. È stato realizzato tra il 1773 e il 1776 come rettifica del Reno, che qui formava un grande meandro a destra, attraversando la Bijlandsche Waard. Il canale e un tratto di fiume di circa quattro chilometri a monte dal confine con la Germania formano il relativamente breve Alto Reno olandese di soli circa 9 chilometri. Circa 7 chilometri di esso sono già fiume di confine con la Germania sulla riva sinistra.
