Il comune si trova a circa sette chilometri a sud-ovest della città di Kamenz e a circa 35 chilometri a nord-est della capitale dello stato di Dresda. Il comune è situato nella parte occidentale dell'Alta Lusazia, nella regione collinare di Lusazia Occidentale, e si estende per una lunghezza di circa 13 chilometri per lo più nelle valli di Haselbach e Pulsnitz.
Dalla stazione ferroviaria di Bischheim-Gersdorf, situata all'interno del comune, si può raggiungere Dresda in circa 45 minuti con il treno regionale.
