Niederwiesa è un comune che confina con la grande città di Chemnitz, situato nel distretto di Mittelsachsen. Comprende dal 1° gennaio 1996 le frazioni di Niederwiesa, Braunsdorf e Lichtenwalde. Su 16,36 chilometri quadrati vivono circa 5000 abitanti. È noto il castello restaurato di Lichtenwalde con il suo vasto giardino barocco.
Il comune di Niederwiesa si trova lungo il fiume Zschopau, a circa dieci chilometri a est del centro città di Chemnitz.
