Gütenbach si trova nella parte centrale della Foresta Nera, a circa 7 km a ovest della città di Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, vicino alla spartiacque Reno-Danubio. Nel paese scorre il Teichbach, formato dal Vordertalbach e dall'Hintertalbach, che si uniscono nel centro del paese. Il Teichbach sfocia, dopo aver attraversato la gola di Teich, presso il cosiddetto Pfaffmühle, nel Wilde Gutach.
