Il comune di Hünxe si trova lungo il fiume Lippe nel nord-ovest della regione della Ruhr nel Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia ed è un comune con popolo appartenente al distretto di Wesel nella regione di Düsseldorf. È membro dell'Euregio Reno-Waal.
Il comune di Hünxe si trova a circa 10 km a est di Wesel, 9 km a nord di Dinslaken e 14 km a nord-ovest di Bottrop.
La maggior parte del territorio comunale fa parte del parco naturale Hohe Mark, a ovest del quale si trova anche la riserva naturale Kaninchenberge. Sia il Lippe che il canale Wesel-Datteln attraversano il territorio comunale per circa 12 km del loro percorso.
