Leutershausen si trova lungo l'Altmühl circa a metà strada tra il capoluogo distrettuale di Ansbach e Rothenburg ob der Tauber. I comuni limitrofi sono: Geslau, Colmberg, Lehrberg, Ansbach, Herrieden, Aurach, Dombühl, Schillingsfürst e Buch am Wald.
Nella frazione di Erndorf, per un certo periodo, si chiamava così solo una singola fattoria, mentre le altre due proprietà del luogo si chiamavano Simonsmühle e Büttnersdorf.
