Nella comunità di Sauensiek si trova il Litberg, la cima più alta del distretto di Stade. Ha un'altitudine di 65 m sopra il livello del mare ed è designato come area di protezione paesaggistica.
A nord della comunità di Sauensiek si trovano le comunità di Beckdorf e Apensen, che fanno anch'esse parte della comunità aggregata di Apensen. A ovest, la comunità di Sauensiek confina con la comunità aggregata di Harsefeld, che comprende le comunità di Ahlerstedt e Harsefeld. A est inizia il distretto di Harburg. Le comunità vicine di Regesbostel, Holvede e Halvesbostel si trovano tutte nella comunità aggregata di Hollenstedt. A sud si trova il distretto di Rotenburg. Qui le comunità di Wohnste e Vierden confinano con la comunità di Sauensiek.
