Il Pferdskopf è un promontorio alto 874,9 m sul livello del mare, situato a sud-ovest della Wasserkuppe nella Rhön. Si trova vicino a Poppenhausen, nel distretto di Fulda in Hesse, ed è di origine vulcanica.
Il Pferdskopf si trova nel Parco Naturale della Hessiche Rhön e nella Riserva della Biosfera della Rhön. La sua vetta si trova a 1,9 km a sud di Abtsroda, 2,1 km a nord-ovest di Obernhausen, 4,5 km a nord di Gersfeld, 2,9 km a nord di Schachen, 3,1 km a nord-nord-est di Maiersbach, 3,8 km a est-nord-est di Poppenhausen e 2,1 km a sud-est di Tränkhof; a sud-ovest si trovano i borghi di Poppenhausen Schwarzerden e Kohlstöcken. Le montagne vicine includono la Wasserkuppe con la cima di Abtsroda a nord-est e l'Eubeberg a sud.
