Sorge da si origina presso il Fichtelberg posteriore nei Monti Metalliferi, scorre inizialmente verso ovest e porta fino al confine ceco vicino a Gottesgab inizialmente il nome Seifenbächel.
Presso il non più esistente Neumühle si dirama il canale d'arte Plattner, che in passato forniva acqua del Schwarzwasser alle miniere nella zona mineraria di Platten sul Plattenberg come acqua di rincalzo.
