La Bega è un affluente lungo 43,9 km, orograficamente destro o orientale del Werre, un affluente sinistro del Weser. Scorre nel Lipper Bergland nella contea di Lippe in RenaniaSettentrionale-Vestfalia, Germania. Il suo bacino idrografico copre 376,7 km².
Il nome Bega è menzionato in documenti per la prima volta nel 1345 come "twisschen der Beghe", e nel 1405 come "up de süd der Beghe", poi all'inizio del XVII secolo come "Die Bege", "bey der Bege", "in die Bege", "die Bege hinauf". Documenti del primo XIII secolo sono associati al nome del luogo Bega. Il significato del nome deriva dalla forma germanica *baki-, trasparente per "torrente", dalle derivazioni altassoni e basso-tedesche, in particolare nel dialetto lippe sono le forme beki, beke, bike. Le scritture delle forme di documentazione più antiche e più antiche con -g- e -gh- rappresentano uno spostamento del germanico -k- a -ch- come mostrano le forme mittel-tedesche *bechi, beche.
