Il convento domenicano di Greifswald, che, per il colore dell'abito dell'ordine domenicano, era anche chiamato Convento Nero, esistette dal 13° al 16° secolo.
In un'iscrizione nel coro della chiesa di San Nicola a Röbel/Müritz è incisa come anno di fondazione del convento domenicano di Greifswald il 1254. Il duca Wartislaw III di Pommern donò ai domenicani un terreno lungo le mura della città, a nord-est dell'allora Neustadt di Greifswald, al confine con la città vecchia. Qui, nel 1254, fece costruire il nuovo convento con i monaci del convento domenicano di Kammin, che egli stesso fondò nel 1228. Tra di loro c'erano anche il primo priore Berthold e il lettore Florentius come membri del convento, menzionati specificamente in un documento del 1264.
