Il Köppernitz è un corso d'acqua situato nel territorio del comune di Barnekow e della città di Wismar nel Meclemburgo-Pomerania.Anteriore.
Il fiume ha la sua sorgente a sud di Krönkenhagen, una frazione del comune di Barnekow e a ovest della A 20. Da lì scorre verso nord e poi in direzione nord-est attraversando Groß Woltersdorf e Klein Woltersdorf, attraversa la B106 e scorre poi lungo il lato sud e orientale del Parco dei Cittadini a Wismar. Si getta nella parte settentrionale di Wismar e alla punta meridionale della baia di Wismar nel Mar Baltico.
