La prima menzione conosciuta del nome del luogo Crumbach si trova in un documento datato 29 settembre 1305: Otto von Crumbach e i suoi figli Heinrich e Arreus e i loro eredi vendettero il loro diritto di amministrazione nel villaggio di Höchst e nei relativi paesini con tutte le proprietà e i diritti. È controverso se il Crumbach citato nel documento si riferisca al villaggio di Mümling-Grumbach. Tuttavia, un documento del 1314 attribuisce Mümling-Grumbach come sede dei signori di Crumbach. Allora Otto von Crumbach era morto. I suoi figli Heinrich e Arreus vendettero il 5 gennaio 1314 il loro diritto di amministrazione a Hoeste con tutti i paesini ad esso collegati al monastero di Höchst per 250 fiorini. La vendita viene confermata in un documento dell'11 marzo 1314. In esso sono elencati tutti i luoghi appartenenti al diritto di amministrazione di Otto von Crumbach. Essi sono Höchst, Crumbach, Ober-Höchst, Dusenbach, Pfirschbach, Annelsbach e Hummetroth. Il diritto di amministrazione costituiva dunque un'area chiusa attorno a Höchst. Escludere questa chiusa diritto di amministrazione di Mümling-Grumbach come sede di Otto von Crumbach e sostituirla con il Fränkisch-Crumbach situato nella valle di Gersprenz sarebbe in contraddizione con il senso del documento. Mümling-Grumbach era certamente il centro del diritto di amministrazione a lui intitolato di Heinrich von Crumbach.
