Dopo il sentiero erboso un po' irregolare all'inizio, si prosegue su un fondo prevalentemente ghiaioso e largo a partire dalla strada forestale. Si attraversa un fossato attorno al monte Steinkuhlenberg orientale. Al punto più alto, sotto l'Hohen Warte, si scende di nuovo ripidamente.
