Santa María de Cayón è un comune spagnolo di 8.148 abitanti situato nella comunità autonoma della Cantabria, comarca di Valles Pasiegos.Situata a sud di Santander, ha un territorio caratterizzato da praterie intervallate da piccole alture della Sierra de Cabalar, e attraversato dal fiume Pas e dal suo affluente Pisueña. Il maggior rilievo è l'Alto de la Cruz . Il comune è formato da dieci centri urbani: La Abadilla, Argomilla, La Encina, Esles, Lloreda, La Penilla, San Román, Santa Maria de Cayón, Sarón e Totero. Il capoluogo è Santa Maria de Cayón che dà il nome all'intero comune e dista 23 km da Santander.
