L'osservatorio di Calar Alto è un osservatorio astronomico spagnolo-tedesco. È situato in Calar Alto, un altopiano di 2168 m di altezza nella Sierra de los Filabres .Il suo nome ufficiale è Centro Astronómico Hispano-Alemán o, in italiano, Centro astronomico ispano-tedesco, e fu fondato nel 1973 in base ad un accordo tra il governo spagnolo e quello tedesco. Fino al 2005, l'osservatorio apparteneva esclusivamente al Max Planck Institut für Astronomie. Dal 2005 l'osservatorio è gestito dall'Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía e dal Max Planck Institut für Astronomie in proporzione di un 50 per cento cadauno.
