Avranches è un comune francese di 8.738 abitanti situato nel dipartimento della Manica nella regione della Normandia.
È sottoprefettura e capoluogo della circoscrizione omonima, una delle quattro del dipartimento, che comprende 16 cantoni e 160 comuni. I cantoni compresi nella circoscrizione sono, oltre a quello della stessa Avranches, quelli di Barenton, Brécey, Ducey, Granville, La Haye-Pesnel, Isigny-le-Buat, Juvigny-le-Tertre, Mortain, Pontorson, Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët, Saint-James, Saint-Pois, Sartilly, Sourdeval e Le Teilleul.
