Mentone si affaccia su una baia del mar Ligure racchiusa da capo Mortola ad est e capo Martino ad ovest. Situata a ridosso della frontiera franco-italiana, sorge ad 11 km ad ovest dalla cittadina italiana di Ventimiglia. Il centro storico si sviluppa su un piccolo promontorio
