Il castello di Chambord è il più grande dei castelli della Valle della Loira e uno tra i più conosciuti e frequentati. È stato costruito per volontà del re Francesco I a partire dal 1519 nei pressi di una curva del fiume Cosson, corso d'acqua affluente del Beuvron che si getta a sua volta nella Loira. Sorge nel dipartimento del Loir-et-Cher, 14 km a nord-est di Blois e a circa 6 km dalla riva sinistra della Loira.
