La fontana Sainte-Hune fa parte della storia del villaggio di Hunawihr. Già nel 7° secolo si dice che Huna, la moglie di Hunon, che abitava in una villa gallo-romana nell'attuale posizione della chiesa, si prendeva cura dei panni dei bisognosi presso la fontana.
Una leggenda racconta che in un anno di cattiva raccolta, Huna avrebbe trasformato l'acqua della fontana in vino. Fu canonizzata nel 1520 da papa Leone X come "Saint Lavandière", su richiesta del duca Ulrich di Württemberg.
La parte superiore del pilastro della fontana porta la data 1656.
Il lavatoio adiacente risale all'inizio del 20° secolo.
La fontana era una fonte di acqua potabile per gli abitanti. Era il punto d'incontro per le lavandaie e i vinai.
