Questa chiesa fu dedicata a san Vaast e questa scelta non fu senza motivo. Infatti, primo, san Vaast è conosciuto come uno dei grandi evangelizzatori delle Fiandre; secondo, l'edificio fu fondato come possesso dell'abbazia di Saint-Vaast di Arras. Utilizzata come fienile sin dalla Rivoluzione, fu restituita al culto nel 1825. Costruita nel IX secolo, fu distrutta più volte e persino rasa al suolo durante uno dei bombardamenti della Prima Guerra mondiale nel 1917.
