Le Ballastières, situate a nord della città di Aire-sur-la-Lys, sono vecchie cave di ghiaia e di ballast. Dopo la cessazione della loro estrazione, il sito diventa un’area ricreativa.
Oggi, una buona riqualificazione e una buona gestione mirano ad ampliare il luogo e a sviluppare il potenziale ambientale.
