Heddon-on-the-Wall è un villaggio nel Northumberland, Inghilterra, situato sul Vallo di Adriano. Heddon-on-the-Wall si trova a circa 9 miglia a ovest dal centro di Newcastle upon Tyne, e appena fuori Throckley. Il nome del luogo 'Heddon' significa 'collina dove crescevano le eriche'.
Il nome del luogo 'Heddon on the Wall' è attestato per la prima volta nei Pipe Rolls del 1175, dove appare come Hedun. Appare come Heddun nel 1262 e come Hedon super murum nel 1242. Il nome deriva dall'Old English hæth-dūn, che significa 'collina dove crescevano le eriche'.
