Ben Nevis è la montagna più alta delle Isole Britanniche, situato all'estremità occidentale dei Monti Grampiani nell'area del Lochaber in Scozia, vicino alla città di Fort William: la sommità è posta a 1.345 metri sul livello del mare.
Conserva ancora le rovine di un osservatorio che fu utilizzato stabilmente dal 1883 al 1904 . Dopo un periodo trascorso nell'osservatorio del Ben Nevis, C.T.R. Wilson ebbe l'ispirazione per inventare la sua camera a nebbia, detta anche camera di Wilson.
