Il territorio comunale si estende su un'ampia vallata circondata da colline, alle pendici del versante orientale del Monte Reventino a un'altitudine mediamente compresa tra 663 e 1366 metri. È articolato in numerosi centri abitati di cui alcuni costituivano le sue frazioni, oggi unite senza soluzione di continuità. I loro nomi, ancora molto usati, sono San Bernardo, Casenove, Cerrisi e Adami, solo quest'ultima ancora classificata come frazione.
