Costruito nel XVII secolo, nella seconda metà del secolo fu acquistato dal duca di Bagnara Francesco Ruffo, valoroso guerriero e capitano dell'Armata Navale Gerolosomitana; egli diede l'incarico a Carlo Fontana facendolo ristrutturare con il bottino ricavato da uno scontro con i pirati arabi. Nella prima metà dell'Ottocento il palazzo fu restaurato da Vincenzo Salomone su commissione dell'ultimo duca di Bagnara. Il palazzo possiede una cappella, sulla sinistra della facciata.
