In piazza Nettun o a Scopello si trova questo vecchio abbeveratoio restaurato e ora adibito a fontana.
Nell'antica tradizione contadina nei 'bevai' si abbeveravano gli animali, si attingeva l'acqua e si lavavano i panni. Erano anche un luogo di incontro e interazione.
L'intervento rientra nell'ambito del progetto di recupero e valorizzazione degli antichi abbeveratoi e fontane previsto dal programma di sviluppo rurale siciliano. Oltre all'abbeveratoio di Scopello, è in restauro anche l' abbeveratoio 'Merla' in via Provinciale 2 e due fontane nel centro cittadino: l' 'Acqua Santa' in Via Segesta e il 'Cannolo Nuovo' in Via Quintino Sella a Castellammare.
