La chiesa fu fondata nel 1552 dal chierico Angelo di Poto su un terreno concesso dal comune. L'attuale chiesa fu costruita tra il 1746 e il 1757, in sostituzione dell'altra che sorgeva a nord-est all'angolo dell'incrocio con via SS. Salvatore con via Trinità.
La chiesa è ad unica navata, con 3 altari e una piccola cappella . Nell'armoniosa facciata a gradini colpisce l'elegante e semplice portale.
Tra le opere troviamo: telo forse seicentesco del SS. Trinità e altri due dipinti (Maria Ausiliatrice e San Giovanni Bosco).
