A ovest si trova un santuario speciale, il santuario di Demetra Malophoros.
Il santuario si trova a pochi passi dall'acropoli, sull'altra sponda del fiume Modione. È un santuario unico nel senso che non ha eguali nel resto del mondo greco. Pertanto, gli archeologi ritengono che questo santuario sia stato creato da una fusione delle tradizioni religiose locali siculiane e greche.
Il sito è circondato da mura, chiamato temenos, e al suo interno si trovano numerosi altari e resti di un tempio dedicato a Demetra Malophoros, un propileo e un acquedotto che forniva acqua al santuario.
Appena a nord del santuario (a destra stando di fronte ad esso) sono state rinvenute le strutture di un santuario dedicato a Zeus Meilichios e infine a sud (a sinistra) del santuario è stata rinvenuta un'altra struttura templare, in stile arcaico. Quest'ultimo santuario fu riutilizzato e adattato dai Punici dopo la conquista di Selinunte.
