Poeldijk è un villaggio nella ex municipalità di Monster, e nell'attuale municipalità di Westland. Poeldijk ha circa 7.110 abitanti e si trova grosso modo tra Monster, Honselersdijk, Wateringen e L'Aia. Poeldijk è sorto lungo l'argine settentrionale della Gantel intorno all'anno 1000. Il nome deriva dall'acqua che si formò dietro la diga dopo che la Gantel fu sbarrata. Il villaggio era composto da un insieme di fattorie lungo l'argine e nel tredicesimo secolo ottenne una propria cappella. La prima menzione del nome 'Poeldiic' risale al 1280. L'area apparteneva alla signoria di Monster e faceva parte della parrocchia di Monster. All'inizio del XVII secolo lungo la Wateringseweg fu costruita la villa Torenzicht.
