Si trova a sud-ovest di Oudega e a sud-est di Koudum, all'altezza del lago de Oude Keren/De Holken. Il villaggio forma un villaggio gemello con Oudega. Nel 2021 il villaggio contava 50 abitanti. Il luogo è stato menzionato nel 1398 come Kolderwout, nel 1412 come Colderwolde e nel 1505 come Coldewold. Il luogo è sorto vicino a un bosco paludoso che si trovava presso Koudum. Il villaggio non è mai stato grande. Il villaggio ha avuto una chiesa, una senza torre, ma nel 1840 è stata demolita e rimane solo un boschetto nel luogo dove si trovava il cimitero del villaggio.
