Sulla Prinsegracht, che fu scavata nel 1640, nel 1650 fu costruita la Casa del Burro dal architetto comunale Bartholomeus van Bassen. Divenne presto troppo piccola, così nel 1681, accanto alla Casa del Burro, venne costruito il grande Mercato del Burro, destinato esclusivamente all'ingrosso. Fino all'1 del pomeriggio si commerciava qui in burro e formaggio. In estate si iniziava già dalle 7, in inverno solo dalle 8. I privati andavano alla piccola casa del burro. Sopra il portale a sinistra si trova l'anno 1650. Dietro il cancello c'è il Vicolo del Burro con alcune case. Sopra la porta a sinistra del portale si trova lo stemma della città dell'Aia, la cicogna.
