Il Gat van de Noorderklip forma un'importante rotta di navigazione nel Brabantse Biesbosch. Il ruscello inizia come un ampio ramo occidentale dello Steurgat. Il corso superiore del Gat van de Noorderklip, che forma il confine tra il cosiddetto Noordwaard e Zuidwaard del Biesbosch, è chiamato Reugt o Ruigt. A pochi chilometri a valle, il nome cambia in Gat van de Noorderklip.
