Questo percorso segue il Bels Lijntje. Era una linea ferroviaria tra Tilburg e Turnhout e questo tracciato costituiva la parte olandese della linea ferroviaria 29. Dalla fine del ventesimo secolo, il Bels Lijntje è diventato una pista ciclabile. Fino al 1865, l'intera area tra Turnhout e Baarle-Nassau era dominata da vaste brughiere. In quell'anno è iniziata la costruzione della ferrovia tra Turnhout e Tilburg e è stata costruita la stazione Weelde-Merksplas (a sud della Steenweg su Zondereigen). La linea ferroviaria è stata costruita e gestita dalla "Grand Central Belge", motivo per cui la linea ferroviaria è stata chiamata nel linguaggio comune "Bels lijntje" (piccola linea belga).
