Rappresenta la figura di un soldato , con la sua spada e il suo scudo È una statua piena di potere, con un Afonso Henriques potente e sicuro di sé.
Di fronte all'ingresso principale del Palazzo dei Duchi di Braganza si trova un altro monumento in onore dello stesso personaggio.
