Il Regno di Jugoslavia fu uno Stato della Penisola balcanica in Europa, esistito dal 1929 fino al 1941, guidato dalla dinastia reale serba dei Karađorđević.
La fine della prima guerra mondiale e il dissolvimento dell'Impero Austro-ungarico videro la formazione di un'entità autonoma nelle terre abitate da Slavi appartenenti alla corona asburgica: lo Stato degli Sloveni, Croati e Serbi che dichiarò unilateralmente la propria indipendenza e la propria sovranità.
