Brugge die Scone bewaarde de structuur en het uitzicht van de oude stad. Vooral de tweede stadsomwalling bepaalde het huidige stadsgezicht.
Van de negen poorten bleven er vier bewaard: Smedenpoort, Kruispoort, Gentpoort en Ezelpoort. De Katelijnepoort lag aan de weg naar Kortrijk. De Katelijnepoort is de vertrekplaats van de gekende GR wandelroute (GR 129).
