In 1965 werd de stuwdam en elektrische centrale voor de opwekking van hernieuwbare energie in gebruik genomen. Het water van de rivier de Vierre wordt zo opgevangen en naar de waterkrachtcentrale aan de Semois geleid waar de energieproductie plaatsvind.
Het meer heeft een oppervlakte van 35 hectare en is maximaal 9m diep met een inhoud van 1,5 miljoen kubieke meter water.
