Ooit was de Bortiergalerij in Brussel een boekenmekka, nu lokt ze hongerige toeristen. Sinds 1848 huisden een tiental boekhandelaars in het overdekte complex, opgetrokken in een neo-renaissancestijl met bordeauxrode gevels, houten ornamenten en een golvend glazen dak. De galerij werd ontworpen door Jean-Pierre Cluysenaar, ook de architect van de Sint-Hubertusgalerijen in de binnenstad.
De Bortiergalerij in Brussel was meer dan 150 jaar lang een vaste waarde in de wereld van antieke boeken, tot stad Brussel besloot om er een hippe ‘foodspot’ van te maken.
