Deze plek ademt geschiedenis. De Sint-Lambertuskerk, gelegen in het hart van het district, is een van de oudste monumenten van Ekeren. Wellicht werd hier al in de tiende eeuw een kerk gebouwd. Het koor van de huidige kerk dateert uit de vijftiende eeuw en de westelijke toren is zelfs gebouwd vóór 1504. Waarschijnlijk is de kerk genoemd naar bisschop Lambertus, die in de zevende eeuw het geloof in deze streek predikte. Aan de noordzijde van het gebouw, ter hoogte van het hoogkoor, ligt de grafkelder van de drukkersfamilie Plantin-Moretus, bekend van het gelijknamige museum in Antwerpen.
