De 10 meter hoge sculptuur The Fisherman van de Truiense kunstenaar Tom Herck vormt letterlijk het hoogtepunt van zijn artistieke project Once We Ruled The World. Het werk stond in 2024 opgesteld langs het historische Canal Grande tijdens de 60ste editie van de Biënnale van Venetië. Dankzij Jan Leysen, curator van de kunstbiënnale Sint-Denijs-City kwam het werk terug naar België, naar Zuid-West-Vlaanderen. Het werd in de zomer van 2025 een van de publiekstrekkers van de tweede editie van het kunstenparcours. Door het Regiofonds van de Provincie en Leiedal krijgt het unieke kunstwerk een permanent monumentaal decor op de site van het Bassin in Spiere-Helkijn.
