In het noorden van de Laars van Henegouwen, net op de grens met de provincie Namen, werd een groots complex van stuwdammen aangelegd op onder andere het riviertje de Eau d'Heure. Zo ontstond er een serie stuwmeren, erg grillig van vorm door het golvende reliëf van de bodem. Hierdoor werd een aantal waterhuishoudkundige problemen opgelost, maar men heeft er tevens van geprofiteerd om van die plek een recreatief paradijs te maken. Om de vorming van slijkstranden te voorkomen, bouwde men drie voorstuwdammen: Falemprise (226 m), Ri Jaune (252 m) en Féronval (142 m).
