De zeppelinfietstocht is opgebouwd rond het verhaal van de zeppelins van Wereldoorlog I die in Gontrode geplaatst waren. Eén ervan viel zelfs neer op een klooster dat je langs deze tocht voorbij rijdt. De route start en eindigt aan het treinstation Dampoort in Gent. Zo kan je makkelijk met de trein tot de startplaats komen.
