Na G÷schenen wordt het onaangenaam druk op de weg door de vele auto's met toeristen die de voorkeur geven aan de pas boven de tunnel; we fietsen tamelijk steil omhoog door enkele galerijen. Over de Teufelsbr³cke passeren we de Sch÷llenenschlucht; door de bouw van deze brug, die oorspronkelijk uit de 13 eeuw dateert, werd de weg naar het zuiden geopend en werd de Gotthardroute de belangrijkste verbindingsweg met het Middellandse Zeegebied. Na een korte tunnel opent zich een breed dal en rijden we Andermatt binnen. De eerste helft van de Gotthard-klim zit erop.
