Genève ; Francoprovençaals: Genèva [dzəˈnɛva] ; Duits: Genève [ɡɛnf] ; Italiaans: Ginevra [dʒiˈneːvra]; Reto-Romaans: Genevra) is de op één na meest bevolkte stad in Zwitserland en de meest bevolkte stad van Romandië, het Franstalige deel van Zwitserland. Gelegen waar de Rhône het Meer van Genève verlaat, is het de hoofdstad van de Republiek en het Kanton Genève.
De gemeente heeft een bevolking van 203.951 en het kanton heeft 504.128 inwoners. In 2014 had de compacte agglomératie du Grand Genève 946.000 inwoners in 212 gemeenschappen in zowel Zwitserland als Frankrijk. Binnen het Zwitserse grondgebied bevat het forensengebied genaamd "Métropole lémanique" een bevolking van 1,26 miljoen. Dit gebied strekt zich in wezen uit van Genève naar het Rivieragebied in het oosten en naar het noordoosten richting Yverdon-les-Bains, in het naburige kanton Vaud.
