Trockener Steg, ook wel Trockner Steg genoemd, is een bergrug in de Walliser Alpen. De rug ligt op 2900 tot 3000 m. Trockener Steg bevindt zich enkele kilometers van Zermatt en 3 km van de Furggsattel. De gletsjertong van de Theodulgletscher ligt ongeveer een kilometer van het bergstation Trockener Steg. Trockener Steg ligt aan de zuidkant meer dan 1000 m boven de verder noordelijk gelegen Gornergletscher. De hellingen daar zijn vrij steil. Aan de oostzijde stijgt het plateau slechts licht, totdat het na 2 km horizontale lengte eindelijk een hoogte van 3300 meter bereikt. Daarna rijst de piramide van het Klein Matterhorn abrupt op tot een hoogte van 3885 m. De rotswanden in dit gebied zijn overwegend vergletsjerd en zeer steil. Aan de zuidzijde stijgt de Theodulgletscher licht, totdat het terrein op 3400 m, waar de landsgrens tussen Italië en Zwitserland ligt, weer afdaalt.
