Großkarlbach telt 1.150 inwoners.
Großkarlbach ligt bij de westelijk rand van de Rijnvlakte. Verder naar het westen wordt het heuvelachtig. Dat gebied behoort sinds de jaren 70 bij de wijnstreek Weinbauregion Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße.
