Kasteel Pottenstein is een van de oudste kastelen van de Franconische Schweiz en herbergt een kasteelmuseum. Het rijst op een rots boven de gelijknamige stad Pottenstein in de Oberfranken Landkreis Bayreuth in Beieren.
Het sporenkasteel bevindt zich in het natuurpark Franconische Schweiz-Veldensteiner Forst op ongeveer 410 meter hoogte op een naar het westen uitgestoken bergspoor tussen de valleien van de Püttlach en de Weihersbach, onmiddellijk zuidoostelijk boven de stad Pottenstein, ongeveer 22 kilometer ten zuidwesten van Bayreuth.
