Oorspronkelijk was dit de Kastanjelaan, maar de Pruisische koning Friedrich Wilhelm iV kreeg tijdens zijn bezoek aan de straat paardenvijgen naar zijn hoofd van de boze bevolking. Om de koning terug gunstig te stemmen werd de Kastanjelaan herdoopt in Königsallee. Nu een ma-tu-vu straat: aan de éne kant vooral luxe en bekende merken, aan de andere kant banken, statige huizen met op maat gemaakte bruggen, lantaarns, kiosken en sinds 1994 op monumentenlijst.
